What Students are saying
I’m proudly sharing the following answers to my questionnaire about the mini course about Vassily Kandinsky. Big thank you to my students. They are the best.
3 session mini class Kandinsky – 2025
Margaret Colaianni’s Review:
Section 1: Overall Experience (Rate on a scale of 1-5)
1 = Strongly Disagree, 3 = Neutral, 5 = Strongly Agree
- The class was engaging and enjoyable overall. (1) (2) (3) (4) (5)
Elisabeth always makes every class she offers very personable and fun. She engages each student to introspectively “feel” how they want to create art which is so inspiring (5)
- The pacing of the 3 sessions felt appropriate (not too rushed or too slow). (1) (2) (3) (4) (5)
The pacing of each session was good with the information. It would have been nice to have had a little more time within each session to make a few more small intuitive paintings.
That said, I think the two hour window was good (5)
- The techniques, projects, or topics covered met my expectations. (1) (2) (3) (4) (5)
The topic (Kandinsky) was excellent. This was the first time i have taken a mini course on an artist and really enjoyed it. (5)
- I felt motivated to create art during the sessions. (1) (2) (3) (4) (5)
The class inspired me to think how i can bring some of the ideas and styles we discussed into my own art. It also gave me a deeper understanding of Kandinsky’s style. (5)
- The class inspired me to continue making art outside of the sessions. (1) (2) (3) (4) (5)
The class definitely inspired me to look at art more closely and try and apply some abstract elements to my own art. (5)
- I gained new confidence in my artistic abilities. (1) (2) (3) (4) (5)
Elisabeth has a special gift to connect with her students and help them to create their own approach to art. (5)
Section 2: Impact on Your Art Journey (Open-ended)
- What was your favorite part of the class, and why?
My favorite part of the class was being with Elisabeth and the other students as we dove into Kandinsky and his art. It was very interesting to see how his paintings evolved over time.
- How did this mini class affect your motivation or enthusiasm for your own art practice?
I feel like it gave me permission and inspiration “to paint what i feel” and not be wed to representational art.
- In what ways (if any) has this class inspired you or influenced your personal art journey?
As noted above, i feel more free to create my own style (thanks to Elisabeth) and to try and add more abstract elements into my art.
- Did the class introduce any new ideas, techniques, or perspectives that you’ll carry forward in your own work? Please describe.
It definitely gave me more introspection on Kandinsky and how i might bring some abstract ideas into my own work. I was fascinated by his approach and use of lines, circles and other geometric elements in his art. Also, his use
of color and shapes, etc. inspired me to bring some of these elements into my paintings (and also try more abstract work).
- What could be improved for future mini classes (e.g., more time on certain topics, different materials, etc.)?
I think the two hour time was good. Maybe stretch it into 4 sessions so we can have a little time to do small exercises in class. I think a single focus (Kandinsky) was excellent.
- Would you recommend this mini class to others? Why or why not?
I would definitely recommend this mini class to others. It’s a really nice break to have a mini-class and focus on a specific topic. I look forward to Elisabeth’s mini color class!
- Any additional comments or suggestions?
I love Elisabeth’s style of teaching. She is so encouraging to each student and helps to bring out feeling within one’s art which is a true gift. She is also very inspirational and has a wonderful sense of humor. Also, it’s so much fun to be back in class with her students from prior classes. Also, I love the mini class concept because it’s so much easier to commit to than a full 8 weeks of classes and is a wonderful opportunity to refresh your art and get more inspired. Thank you Elisabeth!!
