Do you know what your dream is? Is your dream still alive? When I grew up I knew somewhere deep down that I liked to paint. I mean I LOVED it, but I had no clue how to pursue that feeling. I didn’t even know that I could.

ALL I KNEW was that I wanted to do something in Art, but no my father didn’t like that idea. At all, so you guessed it, it didn’t happen. Yep my dream was killed early on. For years to come it was nicely packed away, until I finally found the courage to unwrap it and taking the bold step to sign up for a painting class. That felt like coming home!! Yeah. Totally.

Connecting To Your Dream

Let’s take a closer look at what happens when you finally connect to your dream and are ready to take that bold step! I knew, always knew, that painting was something I was driven to do, but … yes there’s a BIG but … where and how to begin? Of course the simple answer is: At the beginning! Like so many things easier said than done.

What is a dream?

There are dreams and dreams right? Whacko dreams, nightmares, recurring, sexy, all kinds, but dreaming about what you would really like to do in life, if you had all the resources, is in my opinion a little bit different.

Ah! Worth pursuing is the key word

How exactly does that dream of your future self look like? Speaking with John Maxwell “A dream is an inspiring picture of the future that energizes your mind, will and emotions, empowering you to do everything you can to achieve it. A dream worth pursuing is a picture and blueprint of a person’s purpose and potential.’ Or as Sharon Hull says, “A dream is the seed of possibility planted in the soul of a human being, which calls him to pursue a unique path to the realization of his purpose.”

By living my dream I found my passion. I could feel, almost taste it. I was driven from within. And because I worked hard eventually it became much more than just playing with paint. I added coaching to the mix and found my tribe, I started to see and think in different ways, a whole new world opened up, opportunities, travels, a brand-new and super exciting career with a solid life purpose. As a result I am now helping other people to connect to their dream, define what they need to make that dream reality and to live a life on purpose.

Make it happen, not just for yourself

Believe me when I say that there’s nothing more rewarding than to Make Other People Happy.

If you have a dream, a passion, try it out, like a new coat. Put it on and feel how it fits. Move your arms. Straighten you back. Is it comfortable? Warm enough? Color okay? Does it fit your lifestyle? Any altering? And most important: Do you have the money to buy it? Take your time to check it out and what resources you need before you commit.

In the Netherlands we have a saying: Don’t throw away your old shoes before you have new ones”. In other words don’t give up your day job right away, but DON’T LET OTHER PEOPLE KILL YOUR DREAM either. Find out what you need to make that dream come true and go for it. Wholeheartedly.
